Colin Ruff is a Contemporary Drawer and Collagist who lives and
works in the greater Denver area. Born in the late 80's and growing
up through the 90's his drawings are inspired by the consumerist
mentality, mass production of goods and services, and their relation
to social identity. A sense of movement, playfulness and humor are
felt in his tactile combinations of collage, line, color, and texture.
Historical influences of Dadaism and Abstraction mingle with child
hood memories and interests of comics, coloring book illustrations,
and vintage print material. He uses his own personal experience to
critique and create a meta-narrative of society based on these
elements of collage and appropriation.
Colin has earned his BFA and MA from Minnesota state University,
Mankato before completing his MFA at Colorado State University in
2016. Currently he works as an educator for Denver University and
Front Range Community College.
